A recognized leader in the non-bank commercial and industrial mortgage lending sector, our client has had year over year success and growth over the past several decades. Expected to have more than $5bn in assets under management in the next few years and a growing team of professionals, they recognize the need to bring in their first head of Human Resources. This new role will be both strategic and hands on with the mandate to create and build the organization with the senior leadership/ownership team to support the growth trajectory.
The Vice President, Human Resources will partner with the senior leadership team and be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and practices which reflect the company’s mission and values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
• Collaborate with the executive leadership team to define the organizations’ immediate and long-term
human resources needs and goals
• Act as a senior advisor/business partner to the senior leadership team and advise on topics such as
organizational design, retention, performance, and succession management
• Develop and implement short- and long-range human resources objectives, strategic plans, policies, and
operating procedures to meet those needs
• Create, launch, and oversee human resource initiatives and programs, and including but not limited to:
o Recruitment and retention strategy
o Compensation/total rewards strategy, structure and execution, design and rollout
o Employee performance assessment strategy, design, and execution
o Employee learning and development programs both internal and external
o Monitor and evaluate programmatic and operational effectiveness, developing and implementing
changes as required for improvement
o Lead and foster a strong company culture
Experience, Qualifications and Attributes
• 10+ years of people/HR experience and 5+ years of leadership experience in a start-up or high growth
organization
• Proven capability in creating and implementing a people strategy for a growing entrepreneurial
organization
• Strategically and operationally focused, hands-on Human Resources professional with excellent
interpersonal skills including professional communication/presentation skills and strong writing skills
• Ability to build and maintain long-term business relationships with multiple senior level executives
• Comfortable engaging in debate and professionally and effectively challenging multiple opinions and
positions
• Skilled in dealing with ambiguity
• High level of emotional intelligence
• Proven ability to lead and shape a company culture, an adept change agent
• Commitment to operate with a high degree of respect, empathy, and integrity
• Highly organized, strong attention to detail, with the skill to manage multiple priorities
• Collaborative and self-motivated
• Familiarity with working in a flat, multi-partner organization
• Experience with compliance and labour laws
Education
• Bachelor’s degree/MBA and/or specialization in Human Resources
