Chief Financial Officer

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia OR GTA/Southern Ontario

THE COMPANY 


Our client is a world leader in the manufacturing, installation and servicing of heavy infrastructure components. They are recognized globally for their safe designs and dedicated service. With installations around the globe, and service centres across Canada and the U.S., they have assembled a devoted team to deliver successful manufacturing solutions to their industrial customers. 

They are owned by a Canadian-based global investment company with a group of companies that focusses on servicing the automotive, construction, mining, oil & gas, and aerospace sectors. 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP


Title: Chief Financial Officer 

Reports to: CEO 

Team: 4 Direct Reports (Director of Finance with 3 direct reports)  

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia OR GTA/Southern Ontario

THE OPPORTUNITY

  

The Chief Financial Officer will work in close partnership with the CEO, COO and Director, Finance to form a crucial link with the operations and wider business teams in Canada and the U.S. This is a strategic position with a focus on process development & improvement, financial oversight, and business intelligence to support the company’s financial objectives. 

OVERVIEW of RESPONSIBILITIES 


Leadership 

  • Establish credibility throughout the organization and with external partners/advisors as a strategic, solution-based leader for the challenges/opportunities facing the business. 
  • Continually review the financial performance of all companies across the group and, as a member of the senior management team, drive continuous improvement processes.

Accounting Leadership & Oversight 

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of accounting policies, processes and controls that will meet the strategic objectives of the senior management team to ensure timely and accurate financial information is available. 
  • Support the operations team with analysis and recommendations on current and future manufacturing operations and issues, including oversight of the revenue recognition process within operations. 

Financial Planning & Analysis, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Analyze and interpret financial information pertaining to the company’s leaders on performance and provide recommendations concerning business policy, resource allocation, and business operations to improve company performance.
  • Lead the budget process, including process improvements and improving annual budget models; collaborate with Sales & Operations leaders to build revenue; collaborate with department managers on the financial issues that drive and impact department budgets.

ERP Implementation 

  • Participate as Finance Lead working closely with the project manager to support implementation of MS Dynamics 365 Business Central across the group of companies.
  • Support the expansion of Power BI Platform
  • Develop skills as ERP superuser to support new users and training functions.

Acquisitions & Integrations

  • Participate in the acquisition evaluation process.
  • Integrate new operations into IG business systems, including ERP platform.

THE CANDIDATE


A hands-on and pragmatic leader, the ideal candidate will possess extensive finance, accounting, and business expertise gained through education and work experience. The Chief Financial Officer will be skilled in developing and managing high-functioning teams, preferably in a multi-site environment.
